What are the Tour de France Femmes stages?

In what is a milestone for women’s cycling, the one-day event La Course will be replaced by a stage race. The Tour de France Femmes will consist of 8 stages, divided into 4 flat stages, 2 hilly stages and 2 mountain stages which will see the riders take in over 1000km of racing in total.

The first stage will see the riders roll out from the Eiffel Tower to the Champs-Élysées just after the men’s Tour de France ends. While the 2022 Tour de France will be starting in Denmark, while also taking in forays into Switzerland and Belgium, the Tour de France Femmes will take place almost exclusively in eastern France.

There will be one mountain massif on the program, the Vosges, which will feature during the final two stages. The climbs in the Vosges will the see the peloton tackle the Tour de France staple, Ballon d’Alsace, as well as a summit finish at La Super Planche des Belles Filles. Other Tour favourites, such as the route through Champagne country on the way to Épernay where Julian Alaphilippe broke for victory in 2019, will also be making an appearance in the Tour des Femmes.
